Brief History Of The Society Room of Hartford

It was originally built as the Society for Savings Bank in 1834. It was later on remodeled into The Society Room featuring grandiose marbled columns. The marbled columns are towering the 35 feet muraled ceiling.  The Riverhouse Hospitality is the parent company of The Society Room. It is a management and group that specializes in bringing events to life.

Noteworthy Features

The Society Room will keep you and your guests safe even if a hurricane comes on your wedding day! A generator will be able to run the entire facility.  Their feature of “One Wedding at a Time” lets you use their facilities exclusively on your big day!  A personal wedding assistant is also at hand to prepare your every need and turns on your
special day.

Accommodations for Ceremonies

The Society Room in Hartford has a minimum guest requirement of 100 and a maximum capacity of up to 300 guests.  Both the brides and grooms will be pampered in the Society Room. The Bridal Suite is ready to spoil the bride and her bridesmaids. It offers privacy and lavish moments together in the suite. It will remain available throughout the wedding event. An Overnight Hotel Suite will also be given to the newly-wed at The Residence Inn by Marriot.


Groom’s Room is accessible for the gentlemen to relax and sip a beer while waiting for the big day. It offers cards, a flat-screen TV, leather couches, and more. The Society Room is also ready to provide the ultimate Groom’s experience. They will coordinate with The Professional Barber Shop to groom the gentlemen for the special day.


Guests will revel in the exclusive usage of the Ceremonial Patio and Mezzanine.  The Society Room can also set it up in coordination with your ceremony for a minimal fee.
The Riverhouse Catering is responsible for the catering services in the Society Room. They provide superior service by meeting your particular taste and wedding preference. They make sure that your linens, menu, dinnerware, wines, liquors, and wedding cake perfectly match your choice of flowers, favors, music, and wedding preferences. The Society Room also offers a suite for your minor guests. The Children’s Suite provides
enjoyment for the little ones through the movies, toys, a flat-screen TV, DVD player, and leather couches. They provide luxury for the children, but you have to arrange a nanny to look after them.

Pricing, Packages, and Potential Fees

The Society Room has a maximum 6-hour reception. The on-site ceremony fee at the Society Room is $595. The fee includes the chairs, ceremony coordinator, wireless microphones, and the rehearsal. The ceremony starts half an hour before the reception. There will be a charge of $550 for an additional one-hour reception and $275 for 30 minutes extra reception time.  Foods and beverages are not included in this extra charge of hours.

Friday – $99.00 per person with a minimum of 75 adult guests
Saturday – $119.00 per person with a minimum of 100 adult guests

April, July, August, November, December
Friday – $119.00 per person with a minimum of 100 adult guests
Saturday (11:00 am to 4:00 pm) – $99.00 per person with a minimum of 75 adult guests
Saturday PM (6:00 pm or Later) – $139.00 per person with a minimum of 125 adult guests

May, June, September, October
Friday – $125.00 per person with a minimum of 100 adult guests
Saturday (11:00 am to 4:00 pm) – $99.00 per person with a minimum of 75 adult guests
Saturday (6:00 pm or Later) – $149.00 per person with a minimum of 125 adult guests

Sunday Packages – $99.00 per person with a minimum of 100 adult guests
Sundays of Holiday Weekends (Memorial Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day) – $115.00 per person with a minimum of 125 adult guests
New Year’s Eve (6:00 pm or Later) – $169.00 per person with a minimum of 150 adult guests

 

The Society Room also offers enhancement package services to further customize your
wedding day:

  • Groom’s Package gives the ultimate groom’s experience for a fee of $45 to $75. This package requires a minimum of five gentlemen.
  • You can also add a pre-ceremony beverage station for about $1 to $4 per person.
  • Mini desserts or cookies and mousse stations can also be served for $6 per person or $12 per person to add cordials.
