A Brief Overview of the History

The Taft School wedding venue was built in 1890 to provide a quality education that meets the students’ personal, moral, ethnic, and academic needs. For 125 years, this school has been guiding talented academic and musical students from all over the world.

The property is nestled on a 226-acre campus in Western Connecticut, offering fantastic views of rolling hills, historic buildings, and manicured grounds. You will never run out of gorgeous backdrops for your wedding photos.

The Woodward Chapel is the first Episcopalian church building in Watertown, built-in 1765. It was purchased by Taft School in 2010 and has been the home of many musical performances and hosting private events, including weddings.

Notable Features

As a famed Connecticut wedding venue, Taft School offers several noteworthy elements, both indoors and outdoors. Being considered one of the most beautiful prep school campuses in New England, the property offers stunning views of a placid pond, rolling hills, and historic buildings, which make for a great backdrop to your photos.

The historic Woodward Chapel, previously known as Christ Church, was originally built in 1765 and has undergone several renovations over the past 200 years. It houses two amazing musical instruments, a classic grand piano, the 1997 Hamburg/New York Steinway B, also regarded as “the perfect piano”  and a Gress-Miles organ. The church’s Romanesque Revival style will accentuate your day with outstanding acoustics.
