Brief History Of Saint Clements Castle

The construction of the castle began in 1898 for the then future owners Howard Taylor and his wife Gertrude. Its architectural beauty is worshiping the 16th-century European castles which the architect Sidney Algernon Bell so vividly envisioned and realized! There are incredible features like long balconies modeled after the Inn of William the Conqueror at Divers, Art Gallery – modeled after the Great Hall of the Chateau of Langeais. One of the more extraordinary parts is the two Norman towers and also the French Tudor entrances!

Noteworthy Features

What sets apart this Connecticut wedding venue is that it exuberates with possibilities! With numerous gardens and a courtyard that has that novel-worthy romantic feeling with arches and vines – you will literally feel like entering a movie set that is about to shoot a princess scene! And don’t get me started on the interior, you get that authentic historical feel with carpentry, woodwork in general like vaulted ceilings, stone walls, fireplaces, chandeliers, the whole package! I love that it is perfectly combined with contemporary touch concerning certain refurbishments and commodities. And how can I forget, like a proper castle, it has its own Tavern!
