Brief History Of Gwyn Careg Inn

The original building, which is now known as Gwyn Careg Inn was built in 1760 by Mr. William Osgood, who owned the estate for a century. About 140 years after its construction, the property was sold to a wealthy Boston heiress named Miss Eleanor Clark. Under her ownership, the estate included a Spanish garden, which still captivates people to this day. She named the property “Gwyn Careg”, which means “pure stone” in Welsh. The Gwyn Careg Inn wedding venue is now regarded as one of the most beautiful estates in eastern Connecticut. Today, the estate belongs to the Bove family.

Noteworthy Features

This stunning Connecticut wedding venue has a lot to offer, but one of the features that stands out is the Spanish Garden, which is surrounded by ten-foot stone walls and fountains rushing along the walls.

The mansion also gives you the opportunity to tour the grounds with a plot of land made alive by different kinds of trees and shrubs. The estate also features a two-and-a-half-acre charming pond and century-old rhododendrons.

Perhaps another notable highlight of Gwyn Careg Inn wedding venue is the history of the property itself. First built in 1760, the estate is rich in antiquity and rustic charm.

Accommodations for Ceremonies

This historic estate is regarded as one of Connecticut’s most romantic wedding venues that host elegant wedding ceremonies, receptions, and special events. Couples are given the freedom to choose any location on the property to hold their event.

Because of the vastness of the area, the options are practically limitless for outdoor garden receptions. They make sure attention is given to you as they only host one wedding each weekend. This gives you the chance to tell them everything you want, which is awesome, right? They will make it a point that no outside guests are allowed on the property. Only those who are actually attending your function will be given entrance.
