Brief History Of Gershon Ballroom
The Gershon Fox Ballroom by Marquee Events sits right inside the G. Fox & Co. Building, which
is notable for its stunning architecture and interesting history. It was formerly a retail mall
founded by its namesake, Gershon Fox, in 1837. The building used to be the largest department
store in the city at the time of its establishment. In 1918, the 11-storey tower was restored after
an unfortunate fire that ruined most of its original finishes. Some of the most remarkable pieces
from the renovations that remain to this day are the marble columns and pilasters.
